BUSINESS AREAS

Biolan has the following business areas: wine production, agro-food and bio-health.

 

WINE PRODUCTION AREA

Biolan has been working in this field from its beginnings, with the development of a biosensor for detecting gluconic acid in 2006. This has been followed in the subsequent years by other enzyme biosensors for detecting key molecules for wine production processes, such as malic acid, fructose, glucose, histamines and lactic acid.

 

DAIRY PRODUCTS AREA

Biolan began work in the dairy products field by focusing on low-lactose, delactosed and lactose-free products, with the launch of the Biomilk lactose analysis biosensor in 2014. The company’s operations in the sector were subsequently increased with the introduction of a Biomilk for analysing glucose.

 

FISH/SEAFOOD AREA

Biolan decided to move firmly into new sectors such as the fishing industry, and 2013 saw the launch of the Biofish histamine analysis biosensor, which was supplemented in 2014 with the introduction of a Biofish sensor for analysing sulphite in seafoods. New models for analysing these parameters are to be developed in the coming years, such as the portable Biofish700.

 

BIO-HEALTH AREA

Biolan is to specialise in the field of health through the detection of disease markers in various substrates.
